About this quest
Having been at university in Boston for the past 4 years, I had still not been able to go visit Maxime in Montreal, Canada. Maxime and I grew up with each-other, and have been friends since preschool. He has now permanently moved to Canada (including his parents) meaning the only way I'll see him is if I make the trek. This side-quest documents my trip to Canada with Maxime
Montreal
Having landed in Montreal, Maxime showed me around the beautiful old & new parts of the city. By far my favorite was biking out to the park on the opposite side of the river and playing Frisbee among the trees while sipping on a beer. I also got to meet Harry, one of Maxime's french friends who was very sweet. We ended up climbing some trees while booling around near the water.

Tasting local beers
Maxime showed me around Montreal, including trying some authentic poutine, at one of the renown poutine places in the city. Following that, I begged to go get a flight of local beers nearby. After a bit of digging he found a place where we met up with his friend to drink some flights, followed by the consumption of the first Dune in preparation to watch Dune II the following night.
Jewish Christmas
As part of the festivities, Maxime's foodie friends wanted to host an 8 course meal (at Maxime's place, of course). The theme of the meal being "Jewish Christmas" aka what do Jewish people eat on Christmas when nothing is open; Chinese food. Each person was responsible for creating one dish, which ranged from entree's to desert, encompassing delicacies such as authentic chow mein & latkes.
The dinner ended taking 7 hours with a total of 8 dishes being served with multiple rounds of various chinese beers & fancy french desert wine to top it all off. The entire meal began at 7pm and ended at 2am with everyone stuffed and content.
Shopping for ingredients
Maxime and I were tasked with making spring rolls & latkes respectively. Here is a shot of of the butcher at the Chinese grocery store that we stopped into to get the supplies' we'd need for later that night.

An unexpected breakfast
With 4 hours before my flight back to Boston, Max, a friend from Oakland, CA and McGill student had just come back from his spring break. With a quick turnaround I was able to sneak my way over to his place to be treated to some a common & tasty french breakfast; crepes. Max is another one of those friends whose timing has always been misaligned and I had not seen him in almost 2 years. Although our catch up lasted only an hour before I traversed to the airport, we picked up naturally as if we never been away from each other.
